Welcome to Project:
Indie Unbound

A project dedicated to Self Published Authors helping Self Published Authors spread the word.

This project has been terminated effective September 8th due to lack of interest from those it was meant to help.

Information contained here is for information sake of what the project could have been, but will never be now. Up until I repurpose the website for something else, anyways.

Live version of the Web App is available here:

The current App is fully functional!

 What is Indie Unbound?

One of the biggest hurdles Self Published Authors face is that they are doing everything themselves. They don’t have a team behind them to help them get their books out there, instead trying to figure out advertising on their own, or utilizing private services which don’t care too much if the book is a success; they just care if they get paid.

This creates a huge gap in what a Self Published Author can accomplish versus going with a traditional publisher.

Now, that’s not to say every Self Published Author runs into issues. There are plenty out there that will tell you about their successes and confirm that anything is possible. Which it is!

But with how supportive the Self Published Community can be towards each other, why not take it a step further?

General Idea:

Indie Unbound is about the creation of a site/app that is for Self Published Books and Authors, typically exluding those who have been accepted by Publishers.

Basically it is way for Self Published Authors to help other Self Published Authors:
– Authors would have their own pages which they are in control of.
– Each book would have its own page and, also, be in control of the author, with options for those who aren’t tech savvy enough to manage (future thought)
– Each page directs to the authors desired purchase destinations.

There are also verifications in place for Author verification and book verification to prevent spam and ensure books are in fact Self Published.

Readers also have their own accounts and are able to do all the basics that similar sites offer:
– Review books. With a goal of being able to validate if the person has actually read the book before reviewing, but requires development.
– Indicate read, interested in, and not interested in.
– Share links to books on social media of choice.

Another component is when a book is approved/added to the system, it will be shared on social media to the dedicated page for additional eyes on it. Currently this is only available via Facebook.

A big idea being of course that it’s all free. Instead of charging people or using annoying ads around the site, it generates revenue from Affiliate links to the different purchase sites.

How is Traffic driven?

The starting idea would be that each Author shares a link to their books or page.

When a Reader is on the site, thye’re able to interact and find other books they might be interested in.

Books accepted onto the site are also be posted to a dedicated Social Media account (Facebook only right now).

This can help generate discussion and organic traffic to the site with no additional action needed.

Depending on variables in the future, there might be the ability to run ads for the site to help attract traffic.
